This match reeks of the classic build-a-fighter-up, namely Silva. He just knocked out super dud Houston Alexander. Mendes is listed as a Thai Boxer so it appears that UFC matchmaker Joe Silva decided to match up Thiago with someone who will stand and trade. Mendes last fight was over nine months ago in the Russian based M-1 organization. With the long lay off plus being a first timer in the Octagon on the main card we are going with Silva by KO.
