Did Kimbo Tap?

Did Kimbo tap out? Well Brett Rogers seems to think so. A lot of fans are screaming 'Fix!' with the way in which the Kimbo-Thompson fight ended. Thompson is so mad about the stoppage he slaps the referee. Maybe the network premiere for MMA will be more like the 1919 Black Sox than the Jets-Colts Super Bowl III. Kevin Iole of Yahoo sports is pissed.

While Hardcore fans are pissed too, and understandably so, Kimbo didn't tap out he was giving a thumbs up sign. There was another moment where Kimbo was in a hold and the camera went wide, many are claiming foul play. But as our esteemed PR major told us, "They thought his [Thompson's] pant were coming off. So you go to a stadium shot. It's a trick on a live broadcast to avoid showing something nasty ." While not as epic as the Nixon tapes missing 7 minutes it is still not kosher to most fans.

But the complaint about poor officiating is completely warranted and merited. It was pretty poor and inconsistent, especially for a sport that depends upon good officiating.

Quick Note about the stand off in the press conference. Phil Baroni diffused the situation by grabbing the microphone and saying "Everyone calm down they'll do it in the cage." Followed up by "Hey! Lets not have anymore stupid media guys try to start shit! We just calmed it down."
Oh Phil its nice to see you taken seriously Oh wait I can't.
