UFC 85 Preview: Thiago Alves vs. Matt Hughes

Matt Hughes (42-6, 14-4 UFC) vs. Thiago Alves (14-3, 7-2 UFC)
The greatest welterweight in UFC history vs. a guy who beat Karo Parysian. While that may be unfair to Thiago that is his only win the top ten and he lost to current number one contender Jon Fitch. Matt Hughes is 1-2 in his last three fights with his only win coming over journeyman fighter Chris Lytle. Hughes has also recently talked about retirement. Perhaps he has one foot out the door already.
That being said Hughes has been a dominate wrestler and if Thiago couldn't handle Jon Fitch's wrestling how is he going to handle Hughes. Right now Hughes is the favorite at -200 while Thiago is at +160.There is a lot riding on this fight for Thiago. If he wins he will probably be in line for a title shot. If Matt Hughes wins (or loses) he will most likely face Matt Serra to finish that grudge match.
Hughes continues his dominance over welterweights not named George St. Pierre with a TKO in the third round.
