UFC 86 preliminary Previews: Melvin Guillard vs. Dennis Siver

Melvin Guillard (21-7-2, 3-3 UFC) vs. Dennis Siver (11-5, 1-2 UFC)
Vegas doesn’t have odds on this fight and its understandable why. Melvin Guillard is unpredictable and is a borderline head case, Mike Vanderjat style. Such variation in Melvin’s fighting ability makes him a hard fighter to figure out. Guillard has some serious upside as a fighter such as his athleticism, great punching power and hailing from New Orleans ( I love grits and crawfish!). But the guy is just inconsistent. Joe Stevenson got him to tap from a standing/falling guillotine in the first 30 seconds of a fight, and Rich Clemenit DX’d him after submitting Guillard easily. Maybe it was Melvin’s experimentation with the white powder but he seems to be a huge waste of potential. Guillard last win in the UFC was against good ole’ Gabe Ruediger so at least Guillard can beat an overweight wash out.
After that anti-Guillard rant there isn’t much to say about Siver except he gets most of his wins come via submission (6). Considering Guillard is prone to said submissions our pick is Siver but I just can’t shake this feeling that Guillard will win via cocaine power punch.
