UFC 86 Preview: Joe Stevenson vs. Gleison Tibau

Joe Stevenson (28-8, 5-2 UFC) vs. Gleison Tibau (15-5, 3-2 UFC)

The last time we saw Joe ‘Daddy’ Stevenson his forehead was split in two from B.J. Penn’s elbows and blood was squirting everywhere (as evident above). Somehow Stevenson continued fighting before being submitted but he left enough DNA and plasma on the Octagon it could be considered a relative. Stevenson has the pleasure to fight lightweight Gleison Tibau.

Tibau is a good submission fighter with seven of his fifteen wins coming through his Brazilain jiu-Jitsu skills. Joe is clearly the better wrestler but after what Penn’s elbows did to his forehead Tibau will be aiming for that scar tissue. Stevenson is the more well rounded fighter with superior striking.

Vegas has the odds in |Stevenson’s favor -220 to Tibau’s +175. Our pick Stevenson via decision.
