Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Why, Thank You

Affliction's July 19th fight card appears poised to be the most talent laden card to occur this year and possibly ever. For instance five of the top ten heavyweights will be fighting on the card including a fighter many consider the best in the world Fedor Emelianenko. But the world's largest MMA promotion decided to strike at Affliction. The UFC is holding there own event on the July 19th. While significantly less talent is present the UFC does have one advantage theirs is free on cable.

That's why Affliction Vice President Tom Atencio called their move "flattering." Not the response you'd guess right? Atencio went on to further say of the UFC counter-programming. "Obviously, it means they're paying attention to us. And it obviously means we're a threat of some sort to them."

Well you can't argue with that point but Affliction really needs to go into to overdrive to promote this fight because it is still the best fight card that no one has heard of.
