ProElite's 11th hour

ProElite is not dead yet but time is running short. They are need of desperate cash, $3 million dollars just to finish out the year. They have already lost $25 million in a six month period. It is starting to look like ProElite will go the way of the dodo.

They do have two fights left on their CBS deal. The October bout will headline with Kimbo Slice and hopefully he can generate the ratings they had in May. If so than they can limp into next year with either an end of the year show or early '09 show. But their is also more bad news involving their fighters. K.J. Noons apparently isn't returning EliteXC's phone calls on a rematch with Nick Diaz for a fight on the CBS fight card. If this is true than Noons is an idiot, plain and simple.

Their is hope though if Noons and DIaz can't match up in October or in a different fight. The second fight could feature Carano vs. Cyborg as the main event, a fight we all wanted to see. Schedule it for early December or late November and perhaps they can get into next year with a little momentum.

But it is looking more and more like Dana White was right. You have to lose a shit ton of money to build your brand, fighters and fan base before you even have a prayer of making money. Remember The Ultimate Fighter on Spike was the UFC's last straw. If it wasn't successful than the Fertittas were going to sell it.

In the end thoug all you can do is wish good luck to ProElite, because they're going to need it...
