UFC 87 Preview: Heath Herring vs. Brock Lesnar

Heath Herring (28-13, 2-2 UFC) vs. Brock Lesnar (1-1, 0-1 UFC)

There is a lot riding on this heavyweight bout. If Lesnar loses he could quickly fade into Cro Cop oblivion in the United States. Herring’s contract is coming up soon so a victory for him gets him some serious cash.

The UFC most likely is desperate for Lesnar to win. Affliction’s heavyweight division is stacked compared to the UFC’s. With the lack of available talent the UFC put a large bet on Lesnar (250K guaranteed per fight). Part of that equation though is the belief that Lesnar brings in wrestling fans.

Lesnar is, for lack of a better word, a beast. As long as he doesn’t get over excited and trapped in a submission he should win. Herring is a quality heavyweight but is no match for Lesnar’s size and athleticism. Odds are -275 for Lesnar and +205 for Herring.

Lesnar wins round one by TKO
