UFC 87 Preview: Jason MacDonald vs. Demian Maia

Jason MacDonald (20-9, 4-2 UFC) vs. Demian Maia (7-0, 2-0)

A battle of middleweights starts off the PPV card. Jason MacDonald may be the middleweight TUF slayer (and package drooper extraordinaire) but he is also lowly gate keeper in a weak division. Rich Franklin and Yushin Okami defeated him on route to their respective title shots (Okami withdrew due to an injury). MacDonald may be able to beat up on the TUF fighters but Demian Maia looks to be a legit middleweight prospect ailing from Brazil. True Maia really hasn’t fought anyone legit in the UFC but that is why you have Canadian gate keepers. Odds are -275 for Maia and +215 for MacDonald. Sorry friends up north but I just can’t pick anyone from Edmonton. Maia wins via submission.
