UFC 87 Preview: Manny Gamburyan vs. Rob Emerson

Manny Gamburyan (8-2, 2-1 UFC) vs. Rob Emerson (7-6, 1-0 [1NC] UFC)

Ahhh nothing is as refreshing as a good old TUF season five alum fight. Manny is the cousin of everyone’s favorite delirous Armenian Karo Parisyan (do you know who I am?). Manny or Manvil, I am not really sure which one it is, was a big underdog in TUF season five. He got to the finale and many thought he would out wrestle the lanky Nate Diaz, who does not know who Manny's cousin is incidentally. Then Manny had to go pop his freaking shoulder twenty seconds into round two. While Manny says all the right things and appears to be a class act, unlike his cousin, it is still not a good time to be named Manny in American sport culture.

Rob Emerson had the joy of being a part of the most over hyped fight in TUF history with Corey Hill. Then he got destroyed by Gray Maynard in the TUF 5 finale, but since Steve Mazzagati’s mind was on a cigarette break it went down as a 'no contest'. The guy is nice and all but his record speaks for itself, maybe those hookah sessions post-loss should be removed. True he has turned things around from his 0-4 start in his career including loses to Melvin Guillard and Jens Pulver. But there just doesn't appear to be a lot of quality here. To look on the bright side though EliteXC may hire him.

Odds are way in Manny’s favor (-285) and should be. As long as he doesn’t get hurt he rides to decision victory.
