Golden Boy Partners up with Affliction

If you are wondering if that really is Oscar de la Hoya, yes, yes it is. It looks like his company is partnering up with Affliction...smart move?

True this is old news and happened this weekend, but a little power outage kept me from saying anything about it.

For Affliction this is a great move besides weird gender role issues. You are gaining a partner that has a lot of connections (HBO deal?) as well as securing a greater source of equity. They may not lose a shit ton of money in the short run *cough Pro Elite cough*.

This does show that the higher ups in boxing realize the futures market of combat sports is most likely in MMA not boxing. Put it this way how many twenty somethings do you know who are interested in boxing. I know two, and that's because they love their hometown hero, Youngstown native, Kelly Pavlik.

But seriously boxing is the corvette of the sports world. Everyone who really likes it is over the age of fifty and pushing sixty. And if the recent economic news shows us anything we definitely shouldn't trust anyone over the age of fifty.
