Strikeforce-NBC deal? Where, oh where will the UFC go?

Another MMA organization may get a network deal before the UFC. True, Strikeforce and NBC already have a deal to air highlight shows at late hours. But it seems that NBC wants to bring live fights onto their network (jealous of CBS perhaps?). According to the Junkie, the deal is mostly approved and the earliest we would see Strikeforce live on NBC would be first quarter of '09.

If this deal goes through then where will the UFC go? ABC sports is really ESPN, and they do not seem overly excited to put fights on their network considering their boxing contracts. They don't even want to put MMA Live on television. That leaves Fox. Now there were rumors that UFC was nearing a deal with Fox Entertainment not Fox Sports but nothing was ever came from that rumor. Maybe Dana White is such a dick that he can't close these deals with the network bosses. Dana is never one to be gracious and I am sure that the network execs thought that they would be doing the UFC a favor by putting them on prime time.

It would be a shame if the UFC couldn't get on prime time. Think of it this way, what would it be like if MLB was only on cable with AAA and AA baseball on network TV? It would be quite odd. At the very least this new development keeps competition going and last time I checked we were a capitalist country, so more competition means a better product (supposedly).
