WEC 36 reaction and results

WEC 36 was slated for September 10th but was delayed due to Hurrican Ike

-Urijah Faber, the WEC poster boy, lost to Mike Brown. By the way, doesn't Brown's chest tattoo make him look like Brock Lesnar's mini-me? Faber looked much smaller than Brown and in the first clinch between the two Faber was thrown back. At one point Faber threw a muy thai elbow exposing himself, Brown responded with a right hand that dropped Urijah. After that Brown finished Faber off with some ground and pound.

-In the post-fight interview Brown was quite excited dropping a F-bomb, the announcer joyously responded 'thankfully we are on cable'.

-The doughnuts clearly took their toll on Filho. Besides being seven pounds overweight he looked sluggish and disinterested during the fight. For the majority of the first round Filho fought as if it were a judo match, by simply lying on his back and trying to catch Chael Sonnen in submissions. The fans were pissed and rightfully so. In the second round Filho went to his back again, this time though Sonnen told him to stand up to the fans delight.

-What a horrendous fight, Paulo Filho should be ashamed of himself right now. I have never seen such a horrendous showing (more on this tomorrow).

-Anyone else find it weird that the announcers never mentioned that the middleweight division is being removed from the WEC?

-Jens Pulver just got his ass knocked out by Leonard Garcia. It took just 72 seconds for Garcia to finish off the former UFC lightweight champ. That certainly shakes up the featherweight division.

-Jake Rosholt defeated Nissen Osterneck via TKO in the second round of a very entertaining fight.
