What Happened to Paulo Filho?

For the consensus #2 middleweight it was a rough night. Besides coming in an unheard of seven pounds overweight he simply did not show up for the fight. Sleepwalking doesn't adequately describe the level of apathy Filho displayed.
For the entire first round he laid on his back trying to catch Sonnen in a submission. Apparently Filho thought he was in a jiu-jitsu tournament. Once Sonnen realized that Filho didn't want to fight he forced him to stand up to everyone's relief. Unfortunately for the rest of the fight Filho fell to his back time and time again, hoping that Sonnen would fall for an ankle lock. It didn't happen and Chael Sonnen won via decision.
After the weight making debacle, Filho's camp promised if Sonnen won they would award him the belt immediately after the fight. Too bad once the judges cards were read Filho hightailed it out of the cage. It may of been that the broadcast was running short on time but I hope he keeps his word.
The fight was simply unwatchable and if there was a negative fight bonus Filho would've been stripped of his entire purse. It was the saddest excuse of a sporting event I have ever seen. For football fans of the Bengals or Lions watching this was worse than watching your teams. For NBA fans this was worse than watching your team suck on purpose to get a better shot at the #1 draft pick. It was even worse than watching the Knicks every night. It was like watching handicapped high schoolers play professionals. It was horrendous!
What the hell happened to Paulo Filho? He is suppose to be the only rival at middleweight to Anderson Silva. Clearly this is not true. Hopefully there is a reason for the dreadful performance last night. If not then Filho's reputation has taken a Sarah Palin like hit.
