UFC plans to give back to U.S. soldiers

If anyone is an avid sports fan you will have undoubtibly noticed that each sport has their favorite charity or humanitarian project. MLB gives to boy and girls clubs around America while the NFL works with United Way. The NBA has their own charity called NBA cares, by far the most impressive sports charity, they even entered a partnership with UNICEF. The UFC is also carving out their own humanitarian niche.
Tomorrow the UFC will hold their 16th fight night dubbed: UFC Fight for the Troops. The event is being held at Fort Bragg and it appears that proceeds will go to helping veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan,
The money raised from Wednesday's fights will go to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and the Fisher House, a national network of homes at military and veterans hospitals where family members can stay free.
The organizations are working with the Department of Defense to help build the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, a research facility in Bethesda, Md., that will be dedicated to treating troops who suffer from traumatic brain injuries.
The organizations have already raised $50 million.
