12:02 - Pretty poor showing by the WEC tonight. Poor pacing and a strange finish to the main event took away any of the luster from night's quick finishes. Combine that with a crowd that booed at every possible turn and the night was just a big disappointment. Personally I really wished I had just DVR'd it and gone to bed.
11:58 - Due to an unintentional foul the fight went to the judges. Varner won via split decision, which is odd due to Varner winning all but maybe one round. This night was clearly not the WEC's brightest moment.
11:55 - Apparently there will be a decision. The crowd is not pleased.
11:53 - Varner just said I can't see, the fight appears headed for a no contest.
11:52 - Cerrone lands an illegal knee to the head as Varner was trying to stand up. Cerrone won't be docked a point.
11:51 - Cerrone gets his first takedown of the evening.
11:49 - Last round, jut five minutes left.
11:43 - Varner lands a head kick, Cerrone seems alright though
11:42 - More of the same, WKR scores 30-27 for the champ
11:39 - Cerrone is taken down again, not a fortuitous start to round three.
11:35 - Cerrone locks in a triangle out of nowhere, but it is with only 10 seconds left in the round so Varner escapes.
11:33 - No Frank, it is not interesting how the judges are scoring the fight. Varner is clearly winning both rounds.
11:29 - Cerrone may of been able to stand up at the end of round one, but he has a huge bulge on his forehead from all the ground-and-pound damage he withstood.
11:28 - Once again I spoke too soon, as Varner lands two punches then secures the takedown. On the ground, Varner counters Cerrone's guard with a slam. Cerrone holds Varner in a lock but Jamie pulls through and now throws several power punches.
11:25 - Donald Cerrone looks calm and poised as he stalks Jamie Varner
11:21 - Main Event time!
11:15 - Main event snack, Reese's Pieces, mmmmmm.
11:12 - One commercial I will be glad I never have to see again is the Hulk cartoon DVD commercial. I guess that is what the advertising companies think of us.
11:08 - "I am not done. Fuck that!" ~ Jens Pulver, in tears, commenting on his future after his third loss in a row.
11:06 - Jens Pulver just received a swan song from the announcer (retirement announcement?).
11:05 - So far we have seen about 12 minutes of fighting and over an hour worth of commercials. If it wasn't for that chick dong gymnastics on the motorcycle I would of lost my mind.
10:59 - Faber locks in the choke for a victory after a solid body shot.
10:58 - This fight was made with two goals in mind. Repeat the previous show's success. Second, to get Faber back to a title shot easily.
10:55 - Urijah Faber enters the stadium without corn rows. I can't tell you how disappointed I am.
10:50 - Jens Pulver's seems....well.....a little punch drunk in his interview.
10:47 - Just got a sighting of UFC Primetime stock footage for Donald Cerrone. Another sign that Zuffa just didn't care about this card.
10:42 - Scott Jorgensen's tattoo, albino collage was just too distracting for Frank Gomez
10:40 - beer of the evening Yunegling! Yes, bonus fight!
10:36 - The crowd is upset due to the lack of an explosive finish for such an action filled round. It was a good stoppage, Cambell wasn't defending himself even if the punches weren't the most powerful.
10:35 - F bomb slip up.
10:32 - Villefort secured the mount and as Campbell tried to roll out he gave up his back. Villefort took the position and began landing punches, Campbell laid there taking them but the fight was stopped due to an inactive defense. The fans were unsatisfied.
10:28 - Campbell strength was displayed with an excellent slam, but Villefort's guard was great on the ground almost catching Campbell in a knee bar.
10:26 - Campbell looks like a midget compared Villefort
10:25 - Mike Campbell was a power lifter. Frank Mir can't stop talking about his tendon strength.
10:19 - Rashad Evans lightweight champ? Someone has been watching too much Phil Simms
10:18 - It's been 45 minutes since WEC 38 was scheduled to start and over 30 minutes since it actually started, due to NHL overrun, and we have seen one fight. Weird pacing.
10:16: - Mike Brown and Leonard Garica were just interviewed. Standard stuff except Garcia talking up the state of Texas. He probably likes former president Bush too.
10:12 - Something I just realized; isn't weird that the WEC f eatures the lighter weight fighters yet the fighter who provides color commentary is a heavyweight?
10:06 - Jose Aldo won by throwing a knee when Perez reached in on a punch. The knee landed flush and Aldo jumped on Perez and finished the fight with strikes.
10:00 - "Jose Aldo has left the building" ~ Frank Mir in response to Aldo's KO of Rolando Perez
9:59 - Jose Aldo has landed a spinning back kick and a flying knee. Now all he has to do is land the spinning back fist and he will have 'the cycle'.
9:46 - Finally WEC 38 is getting started. It will be interesting to see the comparative ratings between the NHL All Star game and WEC 38.
9:41 - Ok this show really needs to end
9:29 - For those that doubted whether or not Zuffa abandoned WEC this weekend just look at the fact that WEC 38 doesn't even have their own graphic to run across the bottom of the television. Instead they are using the same animatic from Faber vs. Pulver I
9:21 - Versus has a rip off of E's The Soup except it is about sports. Who knew The Soup was popular.
9:15 - The NHL All Star game is tonight? Where the hell did that come from? I consider myself a casual hockey fan and I had no idea this was coming up, but I did know Sydeny Crosby was hurt.
