What were the Affliction 2 Gate Numbers?
In all the rumor mongoring over whether Oscar de la Hoya was paid a $5 million dollar attendance fee there has been equal confusion over the live gate number for Affliction's sophomore show.
Accoridng to Yahoo's Kevin Iole, the paid attendance was 8,946 for a gate of $1,512,750 . However Affliction reported their paid attendance was 12,355. At the same time Tom Atencio said immediately after the card that the paid gate was 13,228. Whatever the actual number are, and I am inclined to believe Kevin Iole, Affliction's pay roll for the card was $3.3 million so they are in the red regardless of what the gate was. Making the need for strong pay-per-view showing all the more important.

Affliction = Mew
While everyone agrees that competition is necessary and a benefit to the fan, intelligent competition is a must. Some of the decisions coming down from Affliction High Command leave me wondering just how stupid these people are. Tom Atencio is probably a nice guy, but does anyone else get the feeling that he’s over his head? Talk about being snake-bitten, That damn Inauguration popped up out of nowhere at the same time as the big press conference. I now, who could predict that right? I doubt that tom has any access to cash from his ‘partners’ either. Oscar and the Donald look to me like they market for Affliction in exchange for a slice of the profits, not true partners. Affliction could have a good future if they actually tried to emulate Dana. Stop pretending that this crap is easy and get to work…
