Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Juinor dos Santos for UFC 108

A possible heavyweight contender bout between Gabriel Gonzaga and Junior dos Santos is in the works for UFC 108.
Fiveknuckles first reported the fight and MMA Weekly reports that the fight has been agreed to yet contracts are still to be signed.
Junior dos Santos (9-1) has been a rising heavyweight prospect since he knocked out Fabricio Werdum at UFC 90. Dos Santos last fought at UFC 103 where he defeated an aging Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic.
Gabriel Gonzaga (11-4) also holds a victory over Filipovic. That victory earned Gonzaga a title shot against the champion Randy Couture at UFC 74. Gonzaga lost that bout and it has been a bumpy road ever since. Gabriel immediately lost to Fabricio Werdum before rebounding with two straight wins over Justin McCully and Josh Hendricks. Gonzaga then dropped his next fight to current #1 contender Shane Carwin. Gabriel last fought at UFC 102 where he defeated UFC newcomer Chris Tuchscherer.
It had previously been rumored that Gonzaga would face former UFC and Pride heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. With the exclusion of Nogueira, and the reports that he was close to a title shot, it appears that he will be fighting the winner of UFC 106 main event between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira recently defeated Randy Couture at UFC 102.
