Zuffa announces 'UFC: Main Events' to counter Strikeforce

The UFC is producing a new show to counter promote Strikeforce: Emelianenko vs. Rogers on November 7th.
The new show, entitled UFC: Main Events, is set to air on Spike at 9pm to counter Strikeforce's debut on CBS.
The broadcast will feature former main events fights. The fights that will be on UFC: Main Events include,
- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Randy Couture from UFC 102.
- Vitor Belfort vs. Rich Franklin from UFC 103.
- B.J. Penn vs. Kenny Florian from UFC 101.
- Anderson Silva vs. Forrest Griffin from UFC 101.
Basically the UFC is showing every meaningful bout from the past three months for free.

this is good because it gets all the casuals caught up on all the big fights lately that they might not have seen…ill dvr it for sure.
i could see this and strikeforce having about the same number of viewers

i spent $350 to see forrest get “knocked out” and run away to the locker room a seconds later. not to mention the bj penn drubbing. that was fun though.

i dont get why ppl complain about this...
so what you paid for the ppv…congratulations, so did a lot of ppl. IT WAS LIVE!!! you paid to watch a live sporting event. i dont know about you but im not waiting to see something 2 months after it happened. so if dana said ufc 104 was a ppv but if you wait till the 1st wk in december and you can watch it on spike, what would you do? your gonna wait 2 months to watch it? hell no, im watching this weekend and fuck it ill watch in december too. i suppose ppl that ge nfl sunday ticket are just getting raped by the nfl too since you can wait a few days and see a replay of your games on the nfl network? i wouldnt pay for sunday ticket but i sure aint gonna pay for it and then complain when i see the game on a few days later

I think the complaint is that it feels like the UFC is watering down their brand by showing the four best fights of the past 3 events

I agree. I mean I was one of the people who spent $45 for each one of these cards and two of them were disappointing overall.
Now you’re going to show the 4 biggest fights from those cards for free on cable a couple months later because you want to steal a few viewers from CBS?

all the ufc fights are one sided drubbings. couture and nog was fun for a bit but was still an ass beating. bj beat the hell out of kenny for 4 not so entertaining rounds and other two are less than 3 minute destructions.
i’ll be watching fedor and mayhem vs shields. live…
