Junie Browning Treated for Drug Overdose, Threatens to Kill and Rape Hospital Employees [Update]

Junie-bar-2_medium

The Las Vegas Review Journal is reporting that TUF 8 contestant, Junie Browning, was treated at a Las Vegas hospital for a drug overdose.

Junie Browning, 24, was taken to the hospital by two friends after Browning took 16 pills of Klonopin, an anti-anxiety drug, in an attempt to harm himself, police stated in Browning's arrest report.

During Browning's stint on The Ultimate Fighter he was notorious for binge drinking that resulted in angry and threatening tirades directed at cast and crew. On repeated occasions it appeared that Junie would be dismissed from the show as other fighter's have done far less to find themselves banished from the show and Zuffa promotions. Yet Dana White showed Browning leniency for inexplicable reasons (*cough ratings cough*) time and again.

Once Junie got to the hospital he was far from unobtrusive patient,

After being taken to a room at the hospital, the Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter tried to leave and became angry, pushing a female nurse, punching a male nurse and kicking another male nurse, the report states.

"Do you know who I am? I will kill you and rape your family," police said he yelled to nurses.

It is hard to say that this is exactly shocking news; if you had to make a list of MMA fighters who would OD and then threaten hospital workers with Genghis Khan style death and rape, Junie would be at the top of the list.

To put this incident in perspective, as someone who spent time working in an emergency room in Jacksonville, Florida this kind of thing happens all the time. Yet for the UFC, Zuffa and MMA, Junie's actions are deplorable and deserve an immediate dismissal from the promotion.

Let this be a lesson to the UFC, if you bring in troubled fighters and continue to bend the rules for them, then you deserve to take a PR hit.

Junie still faces three counts of battery on a health care provider.

Hopefully this closes the book on Junie Browning.

Looks like this really is the end for Junie Browning in the UFC. Kevin Iole reports that the UFC has parted ways with Browning.

Is it wrong that this line made me giggle? And then immediately try to think of the most “mild mannered” fighter in the UFC who could come in as #2! I can hear it now, “GSP… He seemed like such a nice young man…”

Commence giggling…

I'm the kind of girl who loves to watch a GOOD fight!

No, I’d have him ranked below War Machine.

The issue here is not his actions at the hospital, but everything that has involved him. Zak is 100% correct when he says Junie’s actions and words are not once in a lifetime events at hospitals and unfortunately some of us have been witness to much worse. The issue is how he was kept on the show when it was clear without a doubt (from a viewer perspective, editing may have added to it) that Junie was an individual with serious emotional problems who was a danger to himself and the people around him. Hindsight is 20/20 so of course we can point now and that is pointless. Hopefully they use this a reminder and lesson in the future.

I really did try to not get preachy.

Baptist downtown? I’m from Jacksonville myself… it’s cool to see someone from my hometown.
