Main Event of UWC 7: Easton/Beebe has Been Changed to No Decision
Per Sherdog:
Easton’s win over Beebe has been changed to a "no decision" by the state’s overseeing agency, the Virginia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Program. The bout will be recorded as a "no decision" until the commission completes an investigation that may lead to the outcome being changed to a no contest, said David Holland, the program’s executive director.
Luke Thomas over at Bloody Elbow wrote a three piece article detailing what he called the "The Robbery of Chase Beebe and Incompetency of Virginia's Athletic Commission." You king find Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 through the links. The fight was dominated by Beebe with the majority of arm chair judges (Me!!!!) giving the fight 49-46 to Beebe. Beebe used back control to almost nullify Easton's offense on the mat. Much criticism has been expressed against the commission for the way they handled the event, but according to Sherdog, Dave Holland, the executive director, was the force behind the change. Even if it was started due to protest it is promising to see a commission trying to fix a mistake.
"I know the decision will not be reversed; the best we can hope for is a no contest, in order to be fair to both individuals," Holland said. "This didn’t start with anyone writing a letter or complaint to the department regarding the outcome of that fight. This was started by myself at 7 a.m. on Monday morning. The first thing I did that morning when I walked into that office is ask to take the steps to do the fair thing."

It was a horrible decision and it is unfortunate that they cant reverse the ruling (which would be bitter sweet for Beebe even if they had as it would have robbed to be robbed of the moment and ecstasy of victory in the cage).
At least the made this a no decision

yea, at least they are taking the loss off. I did not see it live and had to watch a replay. It was pretty incredible what happened

To me, making it a No Decision is only marginally better.
He certainly did not deserve a loss on his record for dominating the fight the way he did, but to me, this just says, “Yeah, we effed up, but we’re not going to correct things fully.” I know they won’t overturn the decision and so this is the best possible outcome (as long as a rematch comes soon too) for Beebe, but it still kind of sucks balls.
