Spike to air Preliminary Bouts for UFC 106

Photo

Once again the UFC will look to Spike to help promote a pay-per view fightcard.

MMA Fanhouse is reporting that Spike will air the Marcus Davis-Ben Saunders fight as well as the Kendall Grove-Jake Rosholt fight.

This marks the third time that Zuffa has gone to the Spike well. For both UFC 103 and UFC 104 Spike aired live preliminary bouts as a lead in to the pay-per view broadcast.

The previous two cards, where Spike aired preliminary fights, were perceived to be weak pay-per view products. The same is true for UFC 106. It will be interesting to see if Zuffa repeats this practice for UFC 107 and UFC 108.

There are also fears that Zuffa is watering down their live stadium product by broadcasting so many fights but this is a big win for MMA fans.

Looking forward to this every bit as much as the ‘main’ card.
