UFC set their sights on Abu Dahbi and Italy

Italy-abu_medium

The UFC's march to total world domination continues.

UFC's U.K. Division President, Marshall Zelaznik, named some interesting countries as targets for the UFC's next round of international expansion.

"When it comes to European events, Germany is always on that list. It's a market that we intend to continue to go back to time again and build that the way we did the U.K. The U.K. is always on the list. And then when it comes to other European territories, Italy has popped up as a frontrunner lately. I don't know that we'll see it in 2010, but you never know. We're closer to a TV deal there."

It would be interesting to see what city Zuffa would pick. WKR would put money on Milan.

And (with) the Middle East, I have expectations, as well. We've got a lot of work. Next week we're going to be working on Abu Dhabi.

If the UFC holds an event in Abu Dhabi WKR wants to see what Zuffa will do with the Octagon Girls. Will they buy them some Burqinis?

For those keeping track the UFC has held events in Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Germany with Australia coming early next year (Zelaznik says things aren't finalized but they have booked an arena already). Also Mexico and the Philippines are rumored as likely targets. Not to mention there is always the shadow of Japan, South Korea and Brazil as countries with a strong martial arts traditions.
