UFC 105 Spike Broadcast Results and Live Blog

I hope everyone took WKR's advice to heart was able to avoid UFC 105 spoilers (don't log on to twitter!).

WKR will live blog Spike's broadcast of UFC 105 and update with the post with results throughout the evening. So open up a cold one, sit back and enjoy the show. Quick results available here.

11:00 - Well that is going to do it for us here. Some quick thoughts

  - Randy Couture looks old (he is) and really shouldn't be in the discussion for a title shot.
  - Brandon Vera has flashes of excitement but then a whole lot of nothing.
  - Dan Hardy won a title shot against Georges St. Pierre. Good for him but the opening odds may be +500 for Hardy.
  - Michael Bisping bounced back with a win and Denis Kang failed to finish.
  - Ross Pearson is a better TUF winner than James Wilks. Who knew?

Results - Randy Couture def. Brandon Vera via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

10:58 - Wow I didn't see that coming. Round one was close, while rounds two and three went to each fighter. May be a controversial decision.

10:55 Vera secures a takedown but Couture works to his feet and both fighters trade punches at the end of the round in an attempt to sway the judges. It is another close round but WKR thinks Couture wins this round.

10:52- Vera lands three flush leg kicks but clinches again. Its just like when Brandon fought Tim Sylvia, flashes of excitement followed by hugging, I mean clinching.

10:50 - Randy Couture starts round three with a flourish and cuts Vera. First time Randy has looked good tonight.

10:45 - Vera lands two kicks and follows it with a knee which drops Couture. Randy appears to have lost the fountain of youth.

10:43 - Second round begins with an inadvertent low blow and eye poke from Vera. Couture recovers and shoots for a single leg but Vera successfully defends it. Followed by more clinching.

10:39 - The round comes to a close with little action but WKR scores it 10-9 since Vera landed that opening punch. Besides that the round was completely even.

10:34 - Vera catches Couture early but Randy clinches immediately.  WKR's fears were justified.

10:32 - Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera is about to begin!

10:30 - UFC fighters are the equivalent of a Renaissance Assassin!!!

10:28 - WKR is going to call it, St. Pierre beats Dan Hardy in round two via TKO.

Results - Dan Hardy def. Mike Swick via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

10:18 - WKR scores the last round for Hardy. It looks as if "The Outlaw" will fight Georges St. Pierre. I feel sorry for Dan.

10:15 - Swcik and Hardy trade bombs but Hardy lands a left that rocks Swick.

10:11 - Round 2 is in the books and WKR scores it 10-9 for Hardy due to landing the better punches in the clinch.

10:06 - Hardy opens the frame with a killer punch.

10:04 - Round 1 ends with a nice flurry but WKR scores it 10-9 in favor of Hardy due to his ability to stuff the takedown.

10:01 - Why did they have an illegal reproduction promo in the middle of the fight?

10:00 - The British crowd does not appreciate Mike Swick's attack on Dan Hardy's groin.

9:58 - Dan Hardy vs. Mike Swick is underway.

Results - Alexander Gustafsson def. Jared Hamman via knockout (punches) - Round 1, 0:41.

9:47 - I am sorry but Assassins Creed II is no Modern Warfare 2...

Results - Michael Bisping def. Denis Kang via TKO (strikes) - Round 2, 4:24.

9:37 - And Denis Kang shits the bed in the second round (how shocking). Michael Bisping wins the fight.

9:35 - Bisping looks like a small middleweight compared to Denis Kang.

9:31 - Micahel Bisping demonstrated a very active guard attempting several armbars. Unfortunately for "The Count" the round was a decisive loss.

9:27 - Kang rocks Bisping. Are we going to see a repeat of UFC 100? Please say yes!

9:24 - Next is Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang. I can't mention Bisping without thinking of this video, UFC version of "Where Amazing Happens"

9:18 - WKR's summary of the Tito Ortiz interview to hype UFC 106, "I had back problems but those are fixed (unless I lose). I was closest person to beating Machida (except Shogun actually beat him). I am the greatest!"

9:16 - Andre Winner wins his first UFC bout and celebrates by picking his nose on television...

Star-divide

Result- Andre Winner def. Rolando Delgado via knockout (punch) - Round 1, 3:22.

9:08 - I think we have our "Knockout of the Night" winner and its Winner (haha, its a pun!).

9:06 - Winner looks aggressive (too bad he wasn't at the TUF 9 Finale) and drops Delgado with a right hand. Oh yeah, Brock Lesnar is very, very sick.

9:04 - Yes! Prelim fight between Andre Winner and Rolando Delgado is on now.

Result - Matt Brown def. James Wilks via TKO (punches) - Round 3, 2:27.

8:58 - James Wilks gets a solid kimura in but loses it only to see Matt Brown mount him and pound out a victory (that doesn't sound right).

8:54 - Another TUF commercial teasing a Kimbo comeback. Give it a rest Spike, it isn't helping our ratings.

8:50 - Matt Brown destroyed James Wilks in the second round. Even Wilks' reversal at the end of the round was upstaged by Brown's last second triangle choke. WKR thinks the fight is tied at 19-19.

8:47 - Flying knee from Matt Brown!!! Wilks is rocked and is in trouble.

8:44 - Close first round but WKR thinks that Wilks sealed it with the takedown.

8:42 - James Wilks vs. Matt Brown is underway and the first round is fairly even.

Result - Ross Pearson def. Aaron Riley via TKO (doctor's stoppage) - Round 2, 4:38.

8:26 - Ross Pearson opens up a huge cut on Aaron Riley's forehead and the fight is called. Pearson looked fantastic in the clinch but we have yet to see him be tested by a top wrestler and there are many of those in the UFC's lightweight division. In WKR's opinion, the verdict is still out on Ross until he defeats a fighter who wants to wrestle.

8:19 - Ross Pearson continues to be a clinch fighter but this time he looks fantastic in the trenches. Aaron Riley seems very tentative about the whole fight and if we believe Joe Rogan, Riley is not implementing the gameplan of MMA guru Greg Jackson.

8:14 - Goldie tells us that everyone predicted a Ross Pearson win on TUF 9. I believe that Andre Winner was favored to win in that Finale...

8:12 - Bruce Buffer, "We are live!" Off by six hours, no biggie though. I was never any good at math anyhow.

8:07 - Alright, we are getting started a little late due to the Rodrigo news. The UFC is cursed!
