Cage Cast 43: UFC 106 Preview

Just a reminder to check out our UFC 106 preview podcast and our WEC 44 recap podcast.

WKR's latest edition of Cage Cast previews UFC 106: Ortiz vs. Griffin 2.

You can download the episode here, subscribe to our RSS feed here and check us out on iTunes. The streaming version is below. Send feedback to watchkalibrun@gmail.com.

The main event features a rematch between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin. Will Ortiz's long layoff and recent back surgery help or hurt his chances of defeating Forrest? Everyone is playing sport psychologist with Griffin due to his recent performances but Forrest is still a different fighter from the one who lost a split decision to Ortiz back in the day.

Josh Koscheck and Anthony Johnson will face off in the co-main event. WKR feels that the critical question will be whether Koscheck decides to grapple or box. If Josh favors the former his chances of winning improve. If he favors the latter than Johnson's chances of victory will improve. Which do you think will occur?

By the way, will Anthony Johnson even make weight?

Phil Baroni and Amir Sadollah are on the pay-per view card, why, we don't really know...

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Luis Cane fight in a very important and interesting light heavyweight bout that could determine a future number one contender.

Finally we talk about Karo Parisyan and Dustin Hazelett and the Spike preliminary fights.

I think

Johnson barely makes weight and crushes Koscheck. Yeah, Baroni vs. Sadollah? What the fuck is that?

Rumble's striking > Koscheck's ego

As I mentioned on the podcast, I think that Koscheck has fallen in love with his striking and will want to stand and trade with AJ to try to prove a point.

Big mistake. Johnson by KO Round 1.
