Anderson Silva is still Recovering from Elbow Surgery
The UFC's injury woes may have just gone from bad to worse.
Fighter's Only translates a troubling report report regarding Anderson Silva's elbow.
Anderson Silva says his recovery from elbow surgery has not gone as expected, and that there is still enough pain to stop him practicing simple jiu jitsu positions.
"I went to the doctor who takes care of me in Brazil on Monday. I had surgery in the United States but there is communication between the two medical teams. To sum it up, some movements aren't at the expected stage [of recovery]," he revealed to Portal das Lutas.
...
The news will not thrill UFC bosses, who are faced with a mounting injury list of high profile stars. Silva was wanted for a headlined fight with Vitor Belfort in February but unless he is back to full training by next month that will be unlikely
Obviously this is a fluid situation not to mention this wouldn't be the first time that Anderson Silva or his camp have toyed with the media.
But this revelation strengths the possibility of an interim heavyweight title bout between Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez at UFC 109.

This sucks...
but I thought Velazquez vs Carwin would be a great fight anyway when people were first talking about it. Hopefully Silva comes back soon, because he’s gonna whoop Vitor.
Hadoken!!
This is probably a terrible coincidence, but Machida, Big Nog, and Silva all on the shelf due to ailments….. and they’re repped by Soares? Is this the equivalent of an NFL holdout?
I was thinking Drew Rosenhaus, but they are basically one and the same.
Ed Soares comes off as a pretty likeable guy, but the Anderson Silva saga over the course of the last year and half, or so, has become tiresome and I can’t figure out if it’s Soares or Silva that’s behind it.
IMO, it all stems back to the fact that AS wants to fight RJJ…..but more importantly he wants the payday that goes along with that fight.
Unfortunately, his success and talent has not translated into PPV buys for the UFC, therefore they are less likely to open the pocketbook for him.
It seems pretty clear he get PPV points, so now you see him hemming and hawing about an injury that may or may not be healed so he can position (piggyback) himself on a marquee PPV that could potentially result in a higher payday for himself.
