Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Moved to UFC 110 in Australia

Velasquez-nogueira_medium

Earlier WKR passed along a report stating that Cain Velasquez and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira would fight at UFC 109. It ends up that is not the case, as the marquee heavyweight fight has been moved to UFC 110 in Sydney, Australia.

Velasquez and Nogueira were originally slated to fight at UFC 108 but a staph infection sidelined Rodrigo Nogueira from trainign, causing him to withdraw from the fight. For a time it appeared that Cain would fight Shane Carwin as Carwin was without an immediate opponent due to Brock Lesnar's ongoing health issues.

Luckily for the UFC, Nogueira recovered relative quickly from his staph infection and now appears ready to go as a possible main or co-main event for an event in early 2010.

UFC 110 is scheduled for February 21st in Sydney, Australia. The card also features a middleweight bout between Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping.

Oh it's on

…like a pot of neckbones.

I like evey aspect of this fight; established vs. newbreed, punches vs. jits, big guys who are mobile, and they have a very low chance of gassing after one and a half. This is going to be some heavy duty shit here folks! Nog is on fire, and is looking, nay, DEMANDING, the respect he deserves in the ring. Cain carries a genuine mystique of a Aztec warrior.

This should be a great fight – I see Nog taking it though. Cain will lose a big part of his game with Nog being such a threat from the ground, IMO.

Not a giant Kongo fan… but one of the funniest things I’ve seen in MMA was when he beat Crocop. Crocop unleashed that bad ass left leg, flush on Kongo’s right lower rib area, a total liver shot… Kongo literally brushed it off like it was lint. I laughed my ass off.
