Brock Lesnar still sick and not training, UFC 108 in doubt?
On a scale of 1-10 of bad news for Zuffa this may rate as an 11.
Kevin Iole reports that Brock Lesnar is still sick and not training,
Brock Lesnar, the Ultimate Fighting Championship's heavyweight champion, still is not healthy enough to train, his coach said on Monday.
The bout has not been rescheduled, though it is targeted for Jan. 2 at UFC 108 in Las Vegas. However, if Lesnar is unable to resume training soon, he likely will not be able to make that date and it would have to be pushed back into February.
Brock Lesnar was scheduled to fight Shane Carwin as the main event at UFC 106 in Las Vegas, Nevada but Lesnar withdrew from the bout due to an illness, which was preventing him from training. The heavyweight title fight was tentatively rescheduled for UFC 108 on January 2nd.
When a video of Lesnar at a Vikings game surfaced, conspiracy theorists went bonkers with accusations of cowardice towards the former WWE champion.
Iole's latest report should put to rest the questions of the severity of Lesnar's illness, as it is highly unlikely that the UFC would sacrifice a potential main event for their traditional end of the year mega-card.
If Lesnar is unable to fight at UFC 108 that would make four straight UFC PPV cards that lost their main event due to injury (we are counting UFC 105).
2009 may be known as the Winter of the UFC's Discontent.
