Jake Shields Dodges a Bullet, Defeats Jason "Mayhem" Miller
Jake Shields won the Strikeforce middleweight title in what was essentially a grappling match, against Jason "Mayhem" Miller.
While Shields was able to achieve dominant position throughout the fight "Mayhem" Miller was able to stuff his submission time and again.
Despite Shields numerous takedowns and continuous dominant position; the newly crowned champion needed a little bit of luck from a guardian angel to win the fight. In the last ten seconds of the third round "Mayhem" locked in a rear-naked choke and it appeared that Shields would either have to tap or go to sleep. Somehow Shields held on to consciousness and made it to the championship rounds.
In rounds four and five it was more of the same as Shields was able to grind out a win on the judges score card.
In the aftermath of this fight questions will surely arise as to whether Jake Shields should go back to welterweight as he appeared to struggle with Miller's strength.
One of the major knocks against Jake Shields is his poor stand-up. After this fight it appears to WKR that Shields is the closet thing to Royce Gracie in modern MMA.

Before Shields goes back to WW he needs to fight Maia for the title of modern day Royce Gracie.
