Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers Hangover
Some thoughts while I recover from my Strikeforce: Emelianenko vs. Rogers hangover...
- Fedor = Amazing
- Now that our obligatory Fedor fellatio session is over let's dissect the fight a little bit. Brett Rogers certainly gave Fedor a run for his money and had him in several bad spots. If the fight had continued who knows what would have been the outcome. As knowone pointed out Rogers is barely a top-ten opponent. Still an impressive fight that certainly earned Fedor and Strikeforce some new fans.
- The crowd dueled with rival chants of "Fedor!" and "U-S-A!" which was awesome!
- "Can Brett Rogers be Bobby Fischer?" ~ Gus Johnson. Got to love chess analogy's in combat sports. Chess boxing for the win!
- I don't know about you but that Fedor vs. Rogers fulfilled the two E's. Excitement and Entertainment. Yet, we are going to have to wait and see what the ratings are before we proclaim the event a success. Still a very exciting fight.
- Miguel Torres saw something in the Fedor-Rogers fight that some us may have missed. Or Torres is just bitter. Not really sure which it is though...
- I am pretty sure that Dana White died a little bit on the inside after last night.
- If Jake Shields and Jason Miller had worn gi's their fight would have been a lot more interesting.
- Judging by the boos in the Sears Centre, the fans in attendance are not big grappling fans. Unfortunately they got Shields vs. Miller, which was a grappling match.
- Jake Shields has zero stand up. I guess that makes him the closest thing to Royce Gracie in modern MMA.
- "I agree with anything." ~ Frank Shamrock. Nice to see that Frank will stick by his opinions...
- Gegard Mousasi took care of business against Sokoudjou. Now the question is, "whose next?" because I have no idea.
- Once again Sokoudjou starts strong then gases out and is beaten in a later round. Will he ever discover a treadmill?
- Sokoudjou used Judo! Whaaaa????
- It only took till the middle of the Soko-Mousasi fight to hear Dan Henderson's name mentioned as a possible opponent. Hmm....
- To pull a Sokoudjou. Definition: To have the physical appearance of the Predator but to tire out quickly and be easily defeated.
- Strikeforce and CBS posted the CompuStrike statistics after the fights Way better than the UFC's pre-fight "statistics". Learn from this Zuffa. LEARN!!!
- Fabricio Werdum defeats Antonio Silva via unanimous decision. Guess that means Werdum gets to fight Fedor.
- Antonio Silva clearly slowed down in the later rounds. Perhaps he was going through a little boldenone withdrawal...
- Did anyone else think that the Werdum-Silva was about 3 nanoseconds from being stopped in the first round. Werdum certainly dodged a bullet.
- Got to love how the announcing crew didn't mention why Antonio Silva hadn't fought in the U.S. for a year. When they finally mentioned the suspension they didn't say why Silva was suspended. *cough steroids cough, cough*
