Matt Hughes Returning in April

Matt Hughes emerges from the corn fields of Iowa to tell us he has a fight

Matt Hughes emerges from the corn fields of Iowa to tell us he has a fight

Matt Hughes posted a Fox News video today on his blog today but for some reason everyone is talking about the other part of his blog entry, which provides some details on Hughes' next bout,

I have a possible date for my next fight, they tell me that it is April 10th. I’ll tell you later who and where when I find out for sure if it is confirmed.

April 10th would put Hughes on the yet-to-be announced UFC 112 card.

Matt Hughes last fought in May at UFC 98 where he defeated Matt Serra via unanimous decision. Since then Hughes has been out of action and strangely silent.

No word on a possible opponent for Hughes though Renzo Gracie was rumored (Gracie denied the rumor). Prior to that it was rumored that Matt would fight Dennis Hallman for the third time. Basically this means that no one has any idea who Hughes will fight.

There are two big name welterweights who would be available to fight Matt in April: Josh Koscheck and Mike Swick. After all we all know how much the AKA guys like to call out Matt Hughes.

The AKA guys could be his Kryptonite

They have excellent sub defense and can stop a takedown if they wanna keep it on there feet. But I don’t think that applies to Swick, since I think Matt’d take him down and sub him.

Who else is there at welterweight for him though?

if AKA is Kryptonite does that mean Hughes is Superman

I hate that i am writing this, but...

They actually simultaneously killed each other so does that mean we would get this.

I hate that i am writing it because i am a batman fan, not a superman guy.

Seriously

I think they’d be more of a stalemate. Hughes trying to control and get subs and Fitch trying to do something while defending but never moving above nuisance.
