Can you say Do-Over? Koscheck vs. Thiago II in the works for UFC 109

Paulo-thiago-josh-koscheck_medium

Ariel Helwani of MMA Fanhouse is reporting that Josh Koscheck vs. Paulo Thiago II is in the works for UFC 109.

These two met before at UFC 95 in a fight that Koscehck was suppose to win, which in turn would help Josh move  closer towards a title shot. But as is the case in MMA, things very rarely go according to plan. Instead Paulo Thiago handed Josh Koscheck his first knock out loss of his career and Koscheck fell back into the pack of the welterweight division. Essentially the fight was a Chutes and Ladders moment for both Thiago and Koscheck (guess which one climbed the ladder).

Thiago followed the win by dropping a fight to Jon Fitch at the tail end of UFC 100 while Josh Koscheck defeated Frank Trigg at UFC 103.

Both fighters also fought at UFC 106. There, Josh Koscheck defeated Anthony Johnson and proceeded to demand a title shot against Georges St. Pierre while Paulo Thiago eked out a unanimous decision over UFC newcomer, Jacob Volkman.

After nine months it appears that both fighters are right back where they started. Koscheck is knocking on the door of a title shot while Paulo Thiago is out to prove how good he really is. I guess that makes Koscheck vs. Thiago II a do-over for the UFC.

Rumored UFC 109 card after the jump.

Also, is it just me or does the UFC really not like Paulo Thiago?

If they don’t like Thiago, what must they think of poor Mustafa Al Turk? That guy may as well get ‘kick my ass’ tattooed on his face. I’m guessing Rolles takes about half a round to knot him up like a bag of pretzels.
