It's Official: Bobby Lashley Signs with Strikeforce
Via Sherdog:
Former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar and unbeaten heavyweight mixed martial arts prospect Bobby Lashley has agreed to a multi-year contract with Strikeforce, the promotion announced on Thursday.
Lashley, 33, will debut on Jan. 30 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. No opponent was named.
"I’m looking forward to fighting for Strikeforce and challenging myself by taking on some of the top heavyweights in MMA," Lashley said in a release.
This will provide us with a better gauge of what to expect from Lashley. So far he has faced Bob Sapp, Mike Cook, Jason Guida, and Joshua Franklin which is not what you would call top competition by any means. I doubt Strikeforce will throw him to the wolves, but a tougher test against a more polished MMA fighter can provide some insight in Lashley's potential. With Lashley, Nick Diaz, Cyborg Santos, and Jay Hieron all expected to fight on January 30th it looks like Strikeforce is putting together a card once again.
