Vancouver Passes MMA Regulation
We are still waiting for confirmation regarding the passage of MMA regulation in Vancouver. But the Vancouver Sun says it is almost a sure thing.
Vancouver Sun MMA reporter Chris Parry has crunched the numbers and seen documentation prepared by city staff on the topic of mixed martial arts regulation, and says the evidence is clear: Vancouver City Council will overwhelmingly approve a resumption of oversight of the sport today, and the UFC will be in GM Place by June 2010.
Let's just hope this isn't like Chicago being a "sure thing" for the Summer Olympics.
Update: Emma May (you might know here from these videos) passes along this tweet about the proceedings.
The UFC execs charmed the pants off Vancouver city council. I would be shocked if the proposition to sanction the sport did not pass today.
Update #2: The Vancouver City Council votes for MMA to be sanctioned in the city for a trial period of two years.
Now we will have to wait and see whether the UFC will follow through with the possible date in June.
