Big John is Back: Kind of
Dave Meltzer gets the news (subscription required) that the beloved referee Big John McCarthy will be working his first Zuffa event since The Ultimate Fighter 6 finale two years ago. However, McCarthy will be working as a judge instead of a referee at WEC 46 scheduled to take place on January 10th in Sacramento.
This is exciting news for all the MMA fanboys out there who have been craving to see some more Big John. While officiating has its problems I think most readers can confirm that judging is more of a concern and issue across the MMA landscape. Maybe we will see Kizer approve Big John for Nevade and we can see the man at an UFC event in the future. Hey, it could happen.
McCarthy does have the ability to decline the assignment if he chooses.

It never crossed my mind to see Big John in this capacity, but I like it. He is one of the most knowledgable guys in MMA, so he’ll know exactly what he is looking at, unlike some of the other buffoons they allow to judge the sport.

![Dana White made some comments regarding the stalled contract negotiations with Dan Henderson.
"The money that [Henderson] is asking for would make him by far the highest-paid guy in the UFC."
"The negotiations are done, I made [Henderson] an offer, and I guarantee you the offer that I made him, Strikeforce can't pay."
An unfortunate development but not unexpected. If there was ever any doubt that the UFC hadn't entrenched themselves in their 'take it or leave it' position, it is gone now.](http://cdn3.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/81376/white1_small.jpg)
