Scott Coker lays out his plans for Strikeforce on CBS
If the rumored card pans out then Strikeforce on CBS it will be AWESOME!
Scott Coker told Sherdog his plans for the CBS card and this is where things stand,
- Fedor Emelianenko vs Fabricio Werdum
- Dan Henderson vs Jake Shields
- Gilbert Melendez vs Shinya Aoki
- Josh Thomson vs Tatsuya Kawajiri or KJ Noons
I really hope I don't have to explain why Fedor vs. Werdum is a superb main event. Then we have Jake Shields facing off against Strikeforce's new toy, Dan Henderson. While Henderson would be a big favorite the fight could serve as a catalyst for getting Shields back at 170lbs. where there is now some depth for Strikeforce.
Having the Strikeforce lightweight champion, in Gilbert Melendez, going head-to-head against the Dream lightweight champion, in Shinya Aoki, is a magnificent; especially if this is the third fight on the card. Finally there is the possibility of Thomson vs. Kawajiri, which sets up perfectly for the winner to fight the victor of Melendez vs. Aoki. The only thing that is unappealing is the possibility of a KJ Noons-Josh Thomson fight (sorry KJ but I want the Diaz rematch).
On a macro level Strikeforce isn't forced to dump their entire star roster on the CBS card. Gegard Mousasi, Brett Rogers and Gina Carano are all still available (WKR isn't even going to bother mention Alistair Overeem) which makes a third CBS event or the following Showtime event potential must-see MMA.
Finally, its free and on network television. Schwing!

Mousasi has to be on this card. It is in his SF contract that he can only fight when Fedor fights so he will be benched for a long while if he misses this.
