Melvin Manhoef fighting on New Year's Eve, No Robbie Lawler fight?

Is he wearing a chain? This isn't Pulp Fiction, right?

FiveouncesofPain is reporting that recent Strikeforce acquisition, Melvin Manhoef, has agreed to fight Kazuo Misaki at  Dynamite!! 2009 Dream vs. Sengoku on New's Year Eve.

This report throws into doubt the rumors that Manhoef would fight Robbie Lawler on January 30th at Strikeforce in Miami. There is also a rumor that Robbie Lawler is not thrilled about the prospects of fighting in January as it is near the delivery date for his now pregnant wife.

Strikeforce utilizes non-exclusive contracts and for Manhoef to take a fight thirty days before his anticipated Strikeforce debut would lead one to assume that he was given the go-ahead by someone of authority to take the fight.

Update: Manhoef won his bout against Kazuo Misaki in just one minute and forty-nine seconds. In the post-fight press conference Melvin stated that he wants to fight Robert Lawler on January 30th in Miami.

Update #2: There is a new report that Melvin Manhoef will fight on the Strikeforce card against a yet to be named opponent.

So they could’ve gotten the Manhoef fight but didn’t? Wow, that sucks.

We don’t know for sure yet.

I put his as a rumor bc the source of the report is credible but can be wrong.

If Manhoef fights on NYE then I think there is a low probability that he will fight 30 days later in Miami.

i hope if he does fight misaki that he is still able to fight Robbie. Melvin is always an exciting fighter to watch and i would love for us fans to get to know him better.

I haven’t seen any other site announce Manhoef vs Misaki or even mention it.

5 oz isn’t exactly the most reliable site I wonder if there’s any truth to this at all?

I know, that’s why I classified as a rumor

I classified it as rumor for that reason

And I have been trying to get in touch with Manhoef to confirm or deny
