Shane Carwin Owns his Image?
Shane Carwin recently wrote about his disapproval of Bellator's contracts saying that "[the] only thing wrong with Bellator is they ask fighters to give away IP rights to name and likeness. That is all a fighter has."
An astute MMA fan will remember that the UFC has very strict Ancillary Right Agreements, which, one would assume, apply to Shane Carwin. According the Shane this is not the case:

The standard UFC Exclusive Promotional and Ancillary Rights Agreement requires a fighter to sign over his eternal rights to his "name, sobriquet, voice, persona, signature, likeness and/or biography." Carwin's statement would lead one to conclude that he is under a non-standard Zuffa contract.
Some may remember that this was the clause that generated a serious conflict between the UFC and American Kickboxing Academy, which resulted in the brief firing of Jon Fitch as they wouldn't sign away thier image rights for the upcoming UFC video game, UFC Undipsuted 2009. Fitch eventually relented and is featured in the THQ IP.
Shane Carwin was not featured in UFC Undisputed 2009 and there has been no announcement whether he will be included in the second iteration of THQ's UFC product.
