UFC Sends Holiday Cheer by Cutting Four Fighters

Maybe the fine people at Zuffa simply celebrate Festivus or they just decided to be jack asses and fire people a few days after Christmas. Whatever their reasoning for the timing Kevin Burns, Edgar Garcia, Shane Nelson and Darrill Schoonover have been cut by the UFC.

- Darrill Schoonover (10-1) was referred to as "big titties" by Rampage Jackson on the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter. Schoonover made the quarterfinals before being knocked out by Marcus Jones. Darrill was brought back for the Finale but lost to fellow cast-mate James McSweeney. Schoonover was recently recalled to active duty in the United States Army and was scheduled to report after the Finale.

- Kevin Burns (7-4) is probably most famous, or rather, infamous, for his repeated eye pokes of Anthony Johnson at Ultimate Fight Night 14. Burns would lose the immediate rematch to Johnson and then Kevin followed the loss dropping two more bouts to Chris Lytle and T.J. Grant.

- Edgar Garcia (7-2) was one of the welterweights who came from the WEC to the UFC but Garcia had a rough go in the big brother promotion, losing his only two fights to Brad Blackburn and DeMarques Johnson.

- Shane Nelson (12-5) is an alum of season eight of The Ultimate Fighter. During the show Nelson lost to eventual winner, Efrain Escudero, but Nelson got a second chance on the Finale, where he defeated George Roop. Shane's next fight was a victory over Aaron Riley at UFC 96 but the stoppage was extremely controversial and the two would fight again at UFC 101. This time Riley prevailed. Nelson last fought at UFC 107 where he dropped a unanimous decision to Matt Wiman. Overall, Nelson went 2-2 in the UFC while never looking extremely impressive.
