WKR's Bloody Best of 2009 (Update)
WKR has decided to honor those fighters who receive such thorough ass kickings that they deserve their own special hall in Valhalla, kind of like the A.V. Club.
Jared Hess losing to Hector Lombard at Bellator 10.

Not much to say really, Hector Lombard was the huge favorite and proved why as he beat Hess to a bloody pulp. One has to give Hess credit though as he wanted to go out their and take more punishment (WKR thinks that is defined as sadomasochism) despite losing enough blood to keep a vampire alive for a month.
Diego Sanchez losing to B.J. Penn at UFC 107

When one looks at the statistics for this fight one wonders why the Memphis police didn't come into the Octagon to arrest Penn for beating a defenseless man that is how thourough a beating was laid upon the winner of TUF season one. Credit to Sanchez and his positive thinking (can we please stop with the "YES! YES! YES!" jokes?) for running into the breach over and over again. Sadly, Sanchez's effort in the fight was akin to a "forlorn hope" unfortunately no one told Diego that this fight was a suicide mission.
Update: Completely forgot Mac Danzig's loss to Jim Miller at UFC 100

Holy crap, I can't believe I forgot this fight as it was one of the principle complaints that T.J. Simmers of the L.A. Times had against MMA and the UFC. Luckily Steve Cofield pulled a little writing Jiu-Jitsu and burned Simmers.
Clay Guida losing to Diego Sanchez at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale
Proving that there is always a bigger fish, or in this case, always a better fighter, Diego Sanchez put an epic beatdown on Clay Guida. The first sixty seconds of the fight were probably the most exciting sixty seconds of the entire year and if you follow the link you can watch the fight for yourself.
