WKR Fights of the Year

Nick Becker: Diego Sanchez vs. Clay Guida at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale
The first five minutes of that fight were as exciting as any I've ever seen. While I didn't think the second and third rounds were nearly as amazing, (and really, how could they be?) the sensational first round sealed the deal for FOTY in my book.
Spencer Kyte: Miguel Torres vs. Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 40
Five round war for the Featherweight title.
Mizugaki took the fight on short notice and won two of the first four rounds, making Torres go the distance for the first time in ages and holding his own with the heavily-favored champ.
Zach Kratnz: Either Matt Hughes/Matt Serra or Rua/Coleman. Haha, I make myself laugh.
In all seriousness, Miguel Torres vs. Takeya Mizugaki. The fight itself was fantastic providing us with five action packed rounds, but what made this fight even greater is it showed that Torres was human. Prior to this fight no one had taken Torres to a decision in four years and he was cake walking through the division. Yes he lost to Bowles, but at the time of the fight the excitement level was even greater for me because of the shock value of seeing something i did not expect.
Zak Woods: Mike Brown vs. Urjiah Faber II at WEC 41

How have people forgotten about this fight? Maybe it is due to Brown following this victory with a loss to Jose Aldo or the fact that Faber broke his hands during the bout but this featherweight title fight had all the back-and-forth high energy action any MMA fan could wish for. Oh yeah, it was a title fight and a rematch. That sounds pretty Hollywood to me.
Donald Cerrone vs. Ben Henderson at WEC 43
I felt I should mention this fight as it is on the top of many lists. Another exciting WEC title fight (there are three on this list) with the sudden changes in momentum that many fans love. However the fight as marred in controversy, which puts a sour taste in my mouth.
Jorge Gurgel vs. Conor Heun at Strikeforce Challengers Series 2
Holy Jiu-Jitsu fighter standing Batman! This fight was awesome. Jorge Gurgel should be fighting on the ground but god bless him for staying on his feet when a fight like this happens. Gurgel and Heun slugged it out over three rounds. Alas, the timing of the fight was right before the memorable Sanchez vs. Guida fight.
Josh Thomson vs. Gilbert Melendez at Strikeforce Evolution
An honorary mention for a great fight right at the end of the year.

Miguel Torres vs. Takeya Mizugaki.
. . . I don’t know, I didn’t think Brown vs. Faber II was special.
Happy Holidays and A Happy New Year
see, I remember that being a great fight but I think ppl dismiss it bc in the third round we knew Faber’s hands were broken so he would basically lose
I coped out and named a bunch tho

i dont think it was anything great either.
my favorite was cerrone and henderson. it was back and forth both standing and on the ground and the submissions that henderson survived were insane.
but…as far as fight of the year, i have to go with torres and mizugaki

see the Cerrone-Henderson was poisoned bc of the shitty decision.
I was just throwing another fight in the ring, I guess there was a reason why everyone forgot it

i dont think it was shitty. i gave 3 rounds to cerrone but i dont really have too big a problem with it. especially after cerrone said he lost.
a shitty decision is shogun vs. machida.
