Transcript of Dana White's Rant Against Sherdog's Jake Rossen

When Dana White proclaimed that the UFC, and by extension himself, were poised to conquer the sporting world in the next ten years most people rightfully scoffed. Okay Dana, the UFC, pardon me, I mean MMA, will be able to dethrone soccer in popularity throughout the world while simultaneously crushing football in the States. Concurrently the heavens will open up across the earth and billions of dollars of revenue will rain from the sky filling the coffers of White, the Fertittas and Zuffa. Maybe some fighters as well.

Jake Rossen of Sherdog, as well as everyone else with a brain (including us, yes we have a brain, who knew?) pointed out that this analysis was a tad bit optimistic. 

Well, Dana White wasn't pleased with that analysis and decided to yell at someone (WKR is going to guess it is a higher up at Sherdog or ESPN) during his latest video blog about Rossen, Sherdog, the UAE, Rossen's story and Sherdog's coverage of UFC 108.

"...[inaudible] arguing with me about how big MMA will be over the next ten years. Like I give a f***what Jake Rossen thinks. What has this guy ever done to move the sport of MMA forward-- okay? First of all, first of all we've done- - we've made this thing grow despite all the dicks that write on Sherdog, okay? Number one. And, and-- but his f***ing input about business and he also says the UAE[United Arab Emirates] is f***ing-- uh, has big financial trouble. They are worth a trillion f***ing dollars! This guys is a f***ing ass bag, okay?"

Person on phone says something

"So, instead of, wait, instead of, instead of promoting the fight this weekend-- instead of promoting the fight this weekend, this guy is f***ing arguing with me about how big MMA is going to be in the next ten years and why it wont be as big as I say it is. Are you mother f***ers into Mixed Martial Arts!?

Person on phone responds

"That's what he does? Then what the f*** do you employ this guy for? He argues about how big the sport will be, that's what he does? What a f***ing douchebag!"

Person on phone responds

"You know there's a fight this Saturday, right? There's not, there's not one stitch of f***ing anything covering the fight. Uh-- who will be the next big fighters in the next ten years, uh-- they got some big dude with a big fucking afro, uh-- wrestling, you know?"

Call ends Dana White addresses the camera

"So basically, what he just tells me is Jake Rossen, what he likes to do is, he likes to write bullshit stories smashing MMA and MMA writers so you the fans will go on there and talk about him for a long time. Typical f***ing bullshit reporter.

Jake Rossen, Go f*** yourself!"

Wow there is a lot to take in from this. I think the first thing to point out is that Dubai, a member of the UAE, was, and still is, in a real financial pickle. The company Dubai World, which is really just an extension of the Dubai government, is in $60 billion of debt due to over-leveraged real estate investments. It appeared as if the emirate was about to go bankrupt until neighboring emirate, Abu Dhabi, lent Dubai $10 billion to help finance their debt.

On one level, a member of the UAE almost went belly up, but on another level, a more financially stable member came in and saved the day. Also it should be noted that the UAE just finished a $20 billion deal for a South Korean company to build nuclear reactors, freeing up more oil to be exported, which means more money for the state as oil is a nationalized resource. The first reactor is expected to go online in 2020.

So, just on this one issue things are far more muddy and complicated than "the UAE is failing" to "the UAE is worth a trillion dollars!"
