Early Verdicts on TUF 10

Photo

The tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter is almost in the books and already writers are beginning their autopsies of the latest edition of Zuffa's hit reality show. Most people are asking two questions: Was TUF 10 a success? Was is entertaining?

Unfortunately these two question appear to be unrelated. Kevin Iole has already come out and called the fights on TUF 10 horrible but he points out that the ratings were never better. So on one hand the show was successful and on the other hand it wasn't very entertaining. Don't believe that the show was formulaic and boring. Allow WKR to sum up every episode of the tenth season with seven easy points.

  1. Kimbo Slice
  2. Rampage and Rashad arguing
  3. Crappy fight
  4. Will Kimbo return?
  5. Matt Mitrione is crazy
  6. People teasing Zak Jensen
  7. Did I mention Kimbo Slice?

That doesn't sound very entertaining.

Make sure to check back in for our podcast recapping the entire season.

i found this season pretty boring myself, but what do you expect everyone got on there high horses with theyre megaphones and were screaming the last couple yrs how it was a soap opera and junie was the worst….so we got what we all claimed we wanted, just some fights, not much anything else…..however, the season was a success for the ufc because i know ppl that watched this season for kimbo and have never watched TUF before

I disagree that this season was just fights. This season was two things Kimbo Slice, and Rashad vs, Rampage.

The ladder blew up in our faces which took a lot of steam out of the show.

Also Spike went the soap opera route with Mitrione and Jensen. The show was exactly the same as the past couple of seasons.

I’ll bring up your point on Cage Cast later today…

IMO, the show will never be able to reach to level of the first two seasons in terms of legitimate talent. It’s too common now for blue chip prospects to be signed by one of the big orgs a few fights before they are ready.

Could you imagine a season with guys like Ben Askren(170), Tyrone Woodly(170), Johny Hendricks(170)? You could even through a Carlos Condit in there to get him some more exposure.

You can contiune to include drama queens and loose cannons, but that gets old pretty fast and doesn’t really do much to enhance the TUF brand. Plus, alot those guys do not end up sticking around long term.

There was at one point talk of doing a live weekly fight show, that’s obviously never materialized. If they can’t do live every week, I’d like to see weekly shows with some bio, training, and build up footage capped off with fights. IMO they could probably get 2 fights/4 fighters squeezed into one hour with that formula.
