Dana White Implies UFC 106 did 500K PPV Buys

Don't look behind the curtain, you might run into this guy

Speaking at the UFC 108 pre-fight press conference Dana White proclaimed that the UFC's new minimum buy rate had reached the plateau of 500,000 buys per fight.

White went on to imply that UFC 106 did 500,000 pay-per view buys. However, this implication flies in the face of recent reporting by Dave Meltzer. Meltzer reported that UFC 106 trended at 330,000 PPV buys.

Meltzer is widely considered the source of pay-per view numbers.

So where did the extra 170,000 pay-per views go?

WKR's guess is that Gremlins took them.

UFC 106 was headlined by a rematch between Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz after an illness caused the UFC heavyweight title fight between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin to be scrapped.

Star-divide

There were a total of six pay-per view events that were under the 500,000 threshold in 2009. Here are the other five.

UFC 93: 325,00      UFC 102: 435,000

UFC 96: 325,00      UFC 103: 375,000

UFC 99: 365,00

umm i think you missheard a few things...

first off dana comments on ufc 107, and claims it did over 600k not 500k and not 106, which those numbers all check out. secondly i think what you missunderstood as him saying they always do above 500k, it was really him saying they are averaging 500k between 30 shows a year. please listen before you go fact checking other people…. and when he said the minimum was 500k he was referring to 2 fight cards in One month. but again thats not important the important thing is to remember this is AVERAGED, which according to all the numbers seems to add up perfectly well. again please listen before you start doing fake math in your head.

First, there is no reason for cruelty. Second, we were paying attention to what White said and nowhere did he say “average.” Love it when people start saying, “No, no, no, this is what he meant to say.”

Dana White: “…For instance this gentleman heard we did over 600,000 buys on the last—uh, the fight and—uh, our minimum right now is around 500,000. So we had two fights within—uh, one month we had the Tito fight and BJ Penn fight. So within a month we had two pay-per views our minimum being 500 [thousand] and he heard we did 600 [thousand].”

Iole: So I guess what I am getting at is what

White: If your minimum is 500,000 buys do you realize how many pay-per view buys that is?

Not sure how that it isn’t implying that their minimum PPV buy rate is 500K when he is saying “our minimum is 500,000 buys”

Nowhere does he say average.

you still didnt correct your BLATANT mistake

and sorry if you dont like being corrected but when you make the effort to pretend to be a journalist your gunna get some people checking your stuff out. and again i like how you quote dana white right AFTER he says the 600k for 107 not 106, but you dont seem to want to acknowledge that.

heres your direct quote since you seem to like quoting people(only the portions that help your point of view tho...)

reporter “there have been some reports that ufc 107 did over 600k ppv’s can you comment to that?”
dana white “sounds good to me”…. but you didnt want to include that part right?
im not being mean im just being honest, this is what he said.
and btw that one line the reporter asks, is what dana refers to in your quote where he says “this guy heard we did over 600k” arent quotes fun?>

apparently you don’t understand the English language.

What I wrote: Dana White implies UFC 106 did 500K buys

Definition of implies

implies: To express or indicate indirectly

Dana White: “our minimum right now is around 500,000 [buys]”

Dana White: “White: If your minimum is 500,000 buys do you realize how many pay-per view buys that is?”

Dana White: “So within a month we had two pay-per views our minimum being 500”

Any person who speaks the English language would understand this fairly easily
