Dynamite!! 2009 A Night of Upsets

Many fans were hoping that Dynamite!! 2009 would serve as a launching point for a rebirth of top-level Japanese MMA. Whether such a re-birth occurs is anyone's guess but Dynamite!! 2009 certainly held a great deal of drama as underdogs proved their mettle.

While the titan favorites of Alistair Overeem and Gegard Mousasi --they were both favored at -1100-- and the heavy favorites of Shinya Aoki, Ray Sefo and Tatsuya Kawajiri took care of business the rest of Dynamite!! 2009 consisted of upset after upset.

Seven dogs won last night including three huge upsets in Kanehara over Yamamoto, Yoshida over Ishii and Minowar over Sokoudjou.

Even the fights where one fighter was slightly favored went for the underdogs.

Overall seven dogs won last night, five gargantuan favorites won (all pulling odds over +500) with only Hideo Tokoro and Masato bringing home victories for middle range favorites.
