Zuffa Fighters Won't Wear Hoelzer Reich in the Future
After several days of passionate discussion over the controversial clothing line, Hoelzer Reich, and their position as a UFC sponsor Zuffa has finally taken action.
From Cage Writer,
World Extreme Cagefighting general manager Reed Harris told Cagewriter that Zuffa fighters will no longer be allowed to wear Hoelzer Reich clothing in their fights. (Zuffa owns botht the UFC and WEC.) WEC 45 headliner Donald Cerrone had been sponsored by Hoelzer Reich, but withdrew from any association with the company months ago. His image remains on their Web site, but Harris said that Cerrone and his manager are taking steps to have his picture removed.
It is the correct move by Zuffa but it may have been too late. For instance the Sport Business Daily picked up the story earlier today (via The Savage Science)

I have an Alisee tattooed on my right elbow
You dont know how many times people confuse it for an iron cross or even call it a swastika.

I doubt Hoelzer Reich calls what they bring to bear an Alisee.

The KO punch..
My hunch is that the Fedor KO punch on Brett Rogers blow that brought Zuffa to their senses was the Sports Business Daily blurb. It may not seem like much, but every ‘money’ player in sports marketing, sponsorship and promotion reads this. Its essentially the ‘Wall Street Journal’ for their industry. Its one thing for the MMA community to be discussing the HR issue, another thing entirely for it to be put in front of potential advertisers and more or less legit business types. It sure seemed like Reed Harris’ dim mak blow came very quickly after the SBD mention. Or else he heard the podcast we did ;-)

agree
i work for a pro sports team and the staff is “asked” to read through the magazine. We have two subscriptions for a relatively small staff (minor leagues) and we all read it.
