Down Goes Carlos Condit!

via i.cdn.turner.com

We have another victim of the UFC's injury curse.

Carlos Condit has withdrawn from his fight against Paul Daley to a hand injury. Condit and Daley were suppose to be the co-main event for UFC 108--yeah, I know.

Daley took to the Underground Forum to vent his frustration,

"Condit is a big pussy IMO, I have inside information on that dude, It's all good as long as I fight...Koscheck is a tough motherfucker, but I accept the challenge. Hazelett has sick subs, and is dangerous, but I accept that fight too. Any top level fighter in 170lbs with a winning record. Joe [Silva] make it happen."

This is just the latest blow to UFC 108, which has taken hit after hit and the card that was suppose to be the UFC's traditional end of the year "mega card" looks more like a "minnow card" for Jersey.

Here is what UFC 108's main card looks like right now.

Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva
Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout
Tyson Griffin vs. Jim Miller
Junior Dos Santos vs. Gilbert Yvel

That is a Fight Night card with a co-main event for a normal numbered event.

Is there anyone the UFC could tap to save the card? Maybe Dana White shouldn't have sent Dan Henderson to his room...

Update: from The Rumble,

Fighters Only Magazine duly thickened the plot by quoting a "source close to" Daley's camp saying they believed Condit had not even begun his training camp for the proposed match-up and implying that the New Mexico-based fighter had known for some time that he wouldn't be appearing at UFC 108.

IMO, Condit’s chin would have been seriously tested and it probably wouldn’t have ended well for him.

I’d like to hear if there is more to the rumor that he hadn’t started training yet.

after Condit’s two fights in the UFC I def think he is overrated but it would have been interesting to see if Condit could get the fight to the ground

anyone with any sort of ground game can submit daley on the ground. hes pretty horrendous on the ground. condit would have submitted him for sure if he got him there.

i would have picked daley in the fight though. ellenberger rocked condit a bunch of times, daley would knock him senseless if he connected.

condit also got rocked by ellenberger, but recovered nicely.

granted daley strikes better, but he did show the ability to stay focused

yeah, I guess what I am trying to say is that I was high on Condit when he came into the UFC but now I want to see serious results before I get back on that bandwagon

This is actually a very good card with lots of good fights, I find it funny how the more successfull the UFC has become the more people seemingly can’t be pleased with any of their fights. Calling this is Fight Night is insane this card is more stacked than some of the free ppv’s that aired on Spike.

I understand your point but the thing is that the UFC’s success has raised the bar for events. Also UFC 108 is suppose to be the end of the year “mega” card. Due to injuries and other stuff UFC 108 is nowhere close to UFC 101, 100, 94 or 92. 92 was the previous end of the year bash.

While I am sure that most of us will watch 108 it doesnt change the fact that Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva is a weak main event and will draw poorly on PPV.

Usually when the UFC has a weak main event they pick up the slack with a solid undercard. As it stands right now UFC 108’s undercard is not of the quality to make up for that disappointment
