B.J. Penn doesn't care about Zuffa's Sponsorship Bans
When RVCA sponsored Fedor it came as no surprise that Zuffa banned their fighters from wearing the RVCA ban. Apparently B.J. Penn lost the memo or just doesn't care enough to read it.
MiddleEasy reports that Penn plans on wearing the brand when he walks out to The Octagon to fight Diego Sanchez at UFC 107.
RVCA has already made BJ Penn's walk-out shirt for UFC 107 and the dude has every intention on wearing it at UFC 107. Not only that, but he's selling them out of a hotel in Memphis, Tennessee (and if you want one, Penn said dial 808-864-3995 and ask for Lorraine).
WKR isn't so sure that Penn will actually wear the RVCA shirt and if he does we wouldn't be surprised if there was no RVCA logo on the shirt. But this issue begs the question what would the UFC do if a fighter put on a banned shirt before heading out to fight?
Would they go to the nuclear option and call the fight? Or do they have a mercenary army of enforcers to remove clothes from an MMA fighter because that is a fight WKR would pay to see.

All I know is that RVCA and the UFC had some talks after they were banned, I believe around UFC 106. Not sure if maybe they “worke something out” in time for BJ to wear RVCA.
Well
Guess they didn’t work out their differences.

rcva was/is? litterally plastered all over bj’s site last i looked. bj is a guy who would wear the shirt just to say fu. thats what i love about him.
as for the ban itself, its so childish. all of this childish antics of banning shirts and brands and blacklisting fighters is going to bite them hard in the ass. may not be soon but eventually it will.

I mean it is childish to ban a brand that sponsors a fighter in a diff organization (why not ban TapouT?) but it isn’t childish to not allow rival promotions apparel into the UFC like affliction when they were doing there promoting thing

sure the affliction ban was ok especially when they were a rival promotion. but to ban rcva the moment they sponsor fedor? to ban clinch gear in the middle of negotiating with hendo? thats them just being a bully. rcva and clinch gear aren’t putting on any rival mma ppv’s anytime soon.

Zuffa owns a significant portion of TapOut
That’s why they will never ban TapOut. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are trying to go the Burton Snowboard clothing route, (there are tons of brands of Snowboard clothing but 75% of them are ultimately owned by parent company Burton), and buy out most of TapOut’s competitors then sell them like they are an alternative to TapOut.

Banning Clinch and RVCA
which are both companies outside of TapOut’s reach of buyout fits perfectly with that. I just did a quick google search and found out Hitman and Premier Fighter are both under the TapOut umbrella already…
Zuffa owns a significant portion of TapOut… So basically Zuffa is trying to corner the market on MMA clothing. If they can’t buy you out they will just ban you.

The UFC banning RCVA and Clinch Gear is basically childish.

It maybe childish, but It’s Fertittas and Dana company and they could do what they please, whether you agree with it or not. On the other hand, BJ Penn disregarding the ban? Hell yeah! I love it

yes, they do have a right to do it
weird that we we were all demanding that they use that power with Hoelzer but decry it in other situations. Talked about that on Cage Cast (plug!)
