Denis Kang is Now a Free Agent
Denis Kang was served his walking papers from the UFC and is now a free agent.
Early reports focused on the disappearance of Kang from the UFC's official roster on UFC.com. Now, MMA Fanhouse has confirmed that the former Pride fighter has been let go by Zuffa.
Denis Kang went 1-2 in the UFC, losing his last fight to Michael Bisping via TKO at UFC 105. Kang came to the UFC with high hopes as a potential international fighter who could possibly contend in the middleweight division. However, Kang was upset in his first bout against Alan Belcher. While Denis rebounded with a win over Xavier Foupa-Pokam it wasn't enough to save him after his loss to Bisping.
Denis Kang was probably cut due to his underachieving record, which probably didn't justify his salary. There are no public records of what Kang was making in the UFC as two of the three cards he fought on occurred in the U.K. where there is no athletic commission. The final fight was in Canada, which also doesn't disclose pay rolls.
It will be interesting to see if Strikeforce attempts to sign Kang as a possible middleweight fighter to fight in there growing middleweight division.
