Strikeforce update

5789-strikeforcelogo_medium

The first casualties of Strikeforce's purchase of ProElite are now being reported. Antonio Silva and Murilo 'Ninja' Rua were not picked up by Strikeforce. Silva's positive steroid test and contract were cited as possible reasons for his exclusion

Strikeforce did buy Eddie Alvarez's three fight contract from EliteXC. However there now appears to be legal issues regarding the contract status of Eddie Alvarez.  Alvarez recently signed an exclusive contract with newly formed Bellator Fighting Championships.

Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Fergurson's contract was picked up by Strikeforce. Clearly the organization believes that Kimbo can still be a draw in the MMA community.

So is Alvarez going to be allowed to fight in Bellator? I was under the impression that the Pro Elite fighters were unable to sign exclusive contracts, thus keeping guys like Sheilds from signing with the UFC after Pro Elite went under ? Or am I just wrong?

no one really knows right now but we do know that Eddie signed a bunch of contracts. It is up to the lawyers to figure it out
